Jody is a young and very talented upcoming Coast Salish
artist. Although he only been carving for a short period of time, he has
always taken it very seriously. As a young child growing up, Jody had
observed and studied the art form with his uncles Jim Paull & David
Nahanee.
Jody has been an artist ever since he was a child. He’s now learning
his culture
and history behind the art, which he is very devoted too. Jody was commissioned
to paint murals for Carson Graham Secondary School, Keith Lynn Secondary
School, Esla7’han Learning Centre and the Squamish Nation Youth
Centre
in North Vancouver. He has also designed several logos and themes for
the
Squamish Nation Recreation Centre.
Jody apprenticed with Klatle-Bhi (Cloth Bay), a well known Kwakwaka’wakw/
Coast Salish artist in a studio within the Capilano community, North Vancouver.
Jody has assisted several projects such as totems, wall panels, doors
and
large masks, with several artists. From this experience Jody has been
able to
accomplish solo projects. He has also volunteered on several masks for
a potlatch hosted by Chief Frank Baker, held in Alert Bay, B.C.
Jody’s work may be found in public and private collections throughout
the world.
